SECOR MECHANICAL PIANO PLAYER. A highly desirable clockwork toy from the late 19th century bearing the original Secor green paper factory label which gives a complete and full description as to the operation of the piece (please read before operating). Grand piano has a faux painted grain wooden finish with one piece metal painted keyboard (older paint touch-up), as well as the lyre patterned music stand and four supporting legs. Seated at the keyboard the lady with bisque head & closed mouth (French firm Gauthier) gently glides her hands across the ivories. Cast-iron torso concealed by her clothing contains part of the mechanism and when wound the music contained within the piano plays and the woman’s head moves from side to side. The lady, attractively costumed in an 1880’s ball gown, wears an antique blond mohair wig. SIZE: Piano is 5” (13cm) t x 10-1/2” (27cm) l; seated figure is 9” (23cm) t.
