HAND COLORED MAP OF NORTH WALES BY ROBERT MORDEN. 18th century. This is a hand-colored watercolor map of North Wales including parts of St. George’s Channel and the Irish Sea. Upper right corner decorated with a cartouche in which is printed “NORTH WALES/By Robt, Morden”. Robert Morden (1650-1703) was a British cartographer whose maps were published in 1695, 1722, 1753 and again in 1772. This particular example is undated and has been removed from Camden’s .Brittania. SIZE: 14 1/4″ x 17″ Sight CONDITION: Very good overall with minor discoloration and foxing to paper. Watercolors retain good clarity. Vertical crease in middle of map extending full length. Mounted in a later frame. 9-97230 (400-600)
