HUGE 17″ “OSCEOLA” TRAIN ENGINE. Difficult at times to truly know the manufacture, this humongous engine is either Ives or Fallows. A variety of colors is an interesting feature. Includes red, green, black, blue, and salmon, as odds as it sounds they all work well together. An extremely elaborate bell support on top of boiler, detailed stenciling not only to the cab and sides but roof as well. Tremendous folk appeal with the large stamped tin cowcatcher and the undersized heart-shaped wheels, yet huge steam chest. Often times these toys appeal to us for their sense of distortion and lack of true proportion. Both Fallows and Ives made the largest American locomotives and this being one of the “giants”. SIZE: 17″. CONDITION: Cab roof reattached to cab sides with minor inpainting. Boiler & front of cab reattached. Toy originally had a bell on underside which was activated by front wheels, possible cowcatcher restoration (?). 1-10282 (4,000-6,000) Auction: Advertising, Toy & Doll - Spring 2010 Please Note: All prices include the hammer price plus the buyer’s premium, which is paid by the buyer as part of the purchase price. The prices noted here after the auction are considered unofficial and do not become official until after the 46th day. |
