PHILADELPHIA SAMPLER OF SALLY ANN TENNERY, 1804. Circa 1804. This nice needlework sampler with a verse of prayer on the left and a poem on the right centering a floral filled urn-form vase above a wreath wrought with the date 1804 above a two-story colonial home flanked by willow trees. A courting couple on the left and a young girl with her dog on the right within a meandering floral vinery border. The inscription of the poem reads as follows “Sally Ann Tennery is my name America is my nation Philadelphia is my dwelling place and Christ is my salvation”. SIZE: Sight: 17″ x 16″. PROVENANCE: From a Florida Collection. CONDITION: With oxidation and deterioration to brown lettering. The linen ground with deterioration in center. General toning and yellowing overall.
