DAYTON DELUXE FRICTION TOY BOAT WITH ORIGINAL BOX. This toy is worthy of fitting into virtually any toy collection. Petite in size, which is unusual in itself, the bow of the boat has a painted American shield, 4 lifeboats, a pair of masts with crows nests and the original paper flags. Most intriguing is the original cardboard box (detached top flaps), picturing the toy, Cruiser No. 35. More than likely this toy was manufactured at the beginning of the 20th century when patriotism was high and the Great White Fleet itself was traveling around the world. As mentioned earlier this particular toy is usually found in the larger size, although somewhat smaller the overall presence, paint work, adornments make this a most impressive and desirable toy. This is the type of toy that can and should stand by itself and although you might not be enamored with friction toys this particular piece is a complete collection in itself. SIZE: 13″ l.
