CARVED AND PAINTED FOLK ART WHALE. Nicely carved example of a sperm whale carved with conical teeth. The eye an indigo marble beneath the carved lid. The flukes carved in a vertical position. The figure carved from a single oak board. SIZE: 8-1/2″ h x 42″l. CONDITION: Carving retains original painted surfaces with nice patina. The jaw joined to the body with pegs appears to be an original feature in the making. Very good overall. 9-29501 (600-800)
