FANCIFUL CAST ALUMINUM CIGARETTE, BALL GUM TRADE STIMULATOR. Typical of the 1920s/1930s trade stimulators to attract a prospective player, manufactures created visually attractive machines and polished the aluminum cabinets and highlighted the castings in vibrant colors. This particular machine done in Art Deco style, on the front and side castings gave the prospective player an opportunity to win packs of cigarettes while always dispensing a piece of gum if round rod was activated. Again, this was not gambling, you were purchasing a piece of gum and possibly one could win more. The three reels show a variety of cigarettes including Lucky Strike, Camel, Old Gold etc. Machine retains its original gumballs. The polished aluminum finish has dulled with age and at some point in time someone decorated the low relief with yellow paint. Sheet metal backdoor has been repainted and has new lock. SIZE: 9″ x 9″ x 12″. CONDITION: Overall very good, as noted above. 1-9537 (400-600) Auction: Advertising, Toy & Doll - Fall 2009 Please Note: All prices include the hammer price plus the buyer’s premium, which is paid by the buyer as part of the purchase price.
