CHINESE GILT DECORATED LACQUERED DRESSING BOX. Second half 19th century. This nice example lacquered in a faux tortoise shell finish, gilt decorated with a bucolic Oriental landscape within a scrolling foliate border. The hinged lid opening to an interior fitted with multiple lidded compartments, a pewter inkwell, a pewter container for blotting powder, a cylindrical pin holder, etc. The lid fitted with a mirror plate within a lacquered surround. SIZE: 3″ h x 13″ l x 8-1/4″ d. CONDITION: Overall very nice original condition with minor craquelure. Shrinkage crack in bottom. 9-99159 (250-400)
