KINGSBURY LITTLE JIM HUXTER TRUCK. “Little Jim Playthings” was marketed by J.C. Penney’s, a customer of Kingsbury Toys made in Keene, NH. Kingsbury is famous for their clockwork toy trucks and cars and made many different versions. The Huxter truck is probably one of the most difficult trucks to find in Kingsbury’s line of vehicles. These trucks were used in real life as vending trucks such as for fruits and vegetables delivery. Often the fruits and vegetables were sold right out of the back and used as traveling grocery stands. This truck has both passenger car and truck features, making it a very streamline looking truck. The extended canopy roof covers the rear body, which has a folding tailgate and four uprights, and also encloses the cab. This truck is known as the 300 series with the front license plate rubber stamped “360”. The 300 series used actual kingpin steering and is more realistic in the steering action. The truck still retains original headlights, bumpers, wheels and tires, and has all original paint. SIZE: 14-1/2″ PROVENANCE: From the collection of Malcolm Deisenroth, Jr. CONDITION: Very good to excellent, missing one “Little Jim” decal on left side. Very minor scuffing and scratches. Tires have flat spots but are original. Missing clockwork wind up plate. 1-10229 (2,200-3,200) Auction: Advertising, Toy & Doll - Spring 2010 Please Note: All prices include the hammer price plus the buyer’s premium, which is paid by the buyer as part of the purchase price.
