B.B. KORN INDY GAS-POWERED RACER. Known as the “Velvet Drive” prototype race car, this racer was purportedly only one of four built. Powered by a .60 Black Panther engine, this front wheel drive racer has swing-type rear axle. Fabulous workmanship includes; cockpit showing facsimile engine turned dashboard with excellent detail to instruments, three-spoke steering wheel is wrapped as would be racers of the period. Fabricated aluminum seat has remarkable stitched real leather upholstery. Windshield is attached via copper strip. Wheels are true spoke design with Englebert marked tires. Outside brake handle is shown with jeweled handle. Rear, front and underside portions of body are aluminum castings. Beautifully designed sheet aluminum hood area with side louvers and intricate piano hinge. Minute miniature copper rivets. Entire body is in natural finish. Racer design is similar to Maserati Indy-type roadsters of the pre and post-war era. This toy has remarkable presence…stunning in design, hefty in weight and quality workmanship throughout.
