FINE ANTIQUE MESHED ORIENTAL CARPET, NORTHEAST PERSIA. First quarter 20th century. Unusual example with central arabesque circular medallion, each tip emanating a lotus blossom in a soft lemon-gold field with tinges of green. Within ends of field is woven a floral decorated lantern with ribbon tied mounts. Decorated overall with colorful polychrome floral sprays and vinery within wine red spandrels of meandering turquoise tendrils. Blue/black main border with lotus trees alternating with flowering shrubbery. SIZE: 12′ 6″ x 23′ 9″. PROVENANCE: From a New England Institution. CONDITION: Retains very good pile overall.
