There may have, at one time, been a small flag at the bow of the boat. GEORGE BROWN “CRESCENT” PADDLE WHEEL TIN BOAT. What appears to be a nice untouched all original tin toy from the latter part of the 19th century, most likely was manufactured by George Brown. This particular toy does not (and never did) have a clockwork motor. Its charming and somewhat simple form is very pleasing and the toy still retains its original flag. Cream in color with blue stenciling simulating the cabin windows and trimmed side wheel covers it is further enhanced with blue fanciful stenciling on red upper deck. SIZE: 13-1/2″ l. CONDITION: Overall very good to fine. Heavier paint loss to smoke stacks and edging on paddle wheel covers. Broken solder joint on underside of boat. Otherwise a nice example. 1-13353 (2,500-3,500) Auction: Advertising, Toy & Doll - Fall 2013 Please Note: All prices include the hammer price plus the buyer’s premium, which is paid by the buyer as part of the purchase price. The prices noted here after the auction are considered unofficial and do not become official until after the 46th day. |
