CARVED & PAINTED FISH TRADE SIGN. Billingsgate Fish Market, circa 1920, London, England. This colorful polychrome painted example depicting 3 carved fish joined at the tails by rope, mounted on an iron bracket. Removed from the Billingsgate Market from one of its 20th century renovations. SIZE: 63″ l of sign, 69″ l including bracket, 31″ w. CONDITION: This mostly original example with some professional restoration to tails and fin areas. Otherwise the weathered surfaces with some loss to paint on body areas, evident in photograph.
