RARE 5 CENT WATLING ROL-A-TOR SLOT MACHINE. Produced for a very short time in the early 1930s the uniqueness of this gambling machine took the public by surprise. As opposed to the goose neck model with the straight coin drop or the escalator model with the coins marching across the front, this particular machine showed a multitude of coins traveling in a circular clockwork pattern. Top casting features various American coins and machine retains its original tin fortune reel strips. Players were drawn to Rol-A-Tor/Rol-A-Top for this feature as well as the various intrinsically attractive front aluminum castings. This example has several bells and whistles including a gold award feature and a two column vendor front usually employed to navigate about the gambling laws of the time period. Technically a player was not gambling, but rather purchasing a roll of mints and quite possibly he could win additional money if the right combination of fruits and symbols appeared in the proper order on the three reels. This machine comes with a modern oak cabinet (17” x 17” x 34”) with a front opening door, with a polished cast aluminum owl plaque and polished aluminum claw feet. SIZE: 16″ x 16″ x 27″. CONDITION: Machine is professionally restored and is in fine working order. 1-9750 (3,000-4,000)
