18TH/EARLY 19TH CENTURY WOOD CARVING OF AN INDIAN WARRIOR. This wonderful detailed wood carved & gessoed figure of an Indian warrior depicts a figure with a waist cloth consisting of feathers and a headdress of similar feathers. He holds a bow in one hand, a spear in the other and a quiver of arrows rest on his back. Mounted on a carved pedestal with relief leaf design. All in wonderful old antique gilt. Some of the feathers are highlighted with traces of red. SIZE: 19″ h. CONDITION: Surface soil & with much original old patina, some slight imperfections. 9-21893 (5,000-9,000)
