STURDITOY TRACTOR TRAILER. Sturditoy tractor trailers are an elusive truck to collect. Very few steel toy truck manufactures in the 1920s/1930s made tractor trailer trucks. This example is in original red paint and features a short wheel base tractor with original dash decal and operating steering. Back of truck where hitch is has a simulated gas tank and the front end has a dog house shaped hood and radiator with Sturditoy decal. Simulated radiator with louvered sides on hood. Truck still retains original head lights, license plate, and bumpers. Rides on Sturditoy “Firestone” tires “Made expressly for Sturditoy trucks”. The tank trailer has original “STURDITOY OIL COMPANY” decals, twin filler caps, and spigots on back. The stepped frame on this trailer also has ratchet bogey wheel unit on bottom of truck to raise and lower it to hitch on tractor. Trailer still retains original rear bumper and steel wheels with balloon tires. SIZE: 31-1/2″ when hooked together. PROVENANCE: From the collection of Malcolm Deisenroth, Jr. CONDITION: Tractor has overall paint loss and over paint and is in fair condition. Trailer is in much better paint condition, very good.
