TOLEDO WHEEL COMPANY BUICK. The scale of this Buick is an oddity in all of the press steel vehicles made in this era. None of the other toy truck manufactures of the time made vehicles in this large scale. Too small to ride in and too big to play with other children’s typical pressed steel of the day, one wonders why they made this car this size. This car captures the 1920s coupes and roadsters of the day and can be compared to just about any 1920s automobile of that era. There were many different variations and colors. Some were even fire chief cars. This car’s color combination is a classic combination of the day, as some real car makers chose to use flashy colors to set their cars apart. This car also came in a roadster and hard top version, with the top being fixed. Still retains original dash plate, steering wheel, spot light, nickel plated radiator surround with Buick emblem, headlights, license plate, and front bumper. Car rides on orange painted and black pin stripe rubber tires with original spare. Car still has original mustard and light green colors with orange pin stripe with black fenders. Very attractive color combination. SIZE: 28″ l. PROVENANCE: From the collection of Malcolm Deisenroth, Jr. CONDITION: Good to very good, although right rear quarter shows signs of over cleaning and top has some denting and could use some cosmetic repair. Black fenders are very nice as are the wheels, the left side being better than right. With very little professional cosmetic restoration to improve those areas, the car could be nice. 1-10133 (5,000-8,000)
