ROCK & GRANER PADDLE WHEEL BOAT. A fine early live steam paddle boat, most likely manufactured by Rock & Graner at the latter part of the 19th century, this toy has a most aesthetically pleasing appearance. It is delicate in nature, yet extremely well made. Finely detailed features such as the railings surrounding the live steam mechanism, the bow protuberance has a delicately cast support on either side of the bow, and the paddle wheel covers slope back into the hull. Although the boat is small, it is fairly heavy and most likely due to that the keel is solid metal, thus keeping the boat stabilized in the water. Handsomely enameled with a red and black hull and a white deck with simulated portholes. Rubber stamped on each paddle wheel “Dresden”, this must have been quite the toy for a young boy to play with. Included with boat are three lead figures and the stern flag, which needs to be reattached to deck. SIZE: 19″ l. CONDITION: Overall appears to be good to very good. Possible old restoration to boat. 1-13131 (7,000-10,000)
