LARGE JESTER CAROUSEL PLAQUE. Of more recent vintage but has classic look, this resin or plaster smiling jester with coxcomb and ruffled collar on center of floral swaths and carved pendant scrolls. He is surrounded by a frame of theater lights. Jester head shields created a crown for Dentzel’s carousels in the early 20th Century and the originals were made of reinforced plaster and covered each end of the rounding boards on the largest and best carousels. This piece was made over 40 years ago as a replacement for the original and the mold was destroyed after only a few were made. SIZE: 51″ h. x 27″ w.
