PAIR OF AMERICAN CAST IRON GEORGE WASHINGTON ANDIRONS. Third quarter 19th century. These fine paint decorated examples depicting Gen. George Washington leaning on a draped pedestal, hat in hand, standing on a draped molded plinth with a hanging medallion, raised on conforming feet. The cast serial number “1022” is found at the rear of the base. SIZE: Ht 19 3/4″ L 17″ CONDITION: Structurally very good retaining original surfaces showing expected wear with good patina. 9-97036 (500-800)
