“SPIDORA” CANVAS CIRCUS BANNER. Wonderful, original weathered side show banner circa 1940s-1950s captioned “Spidora – Alive”, a huge spider with a woman’s face. Construction includes heavy leather reinforced corners with steel rings for tie-downs. Banner is stenciled “Snap Wyatt, Tampa, Fla”. Born David C. Wyatt in Asheville, N.C., Snap began painting canvas backdrops after stuyding at Cooper Union in NYC, 1930-1934. His body of work is regarded today to be among the most collectible and sought after circus art of the genre. SIZE: Overall 9’8″ x 7’8″ h. CONDITION: Has two canvas tears which appear to be intentional to allow for wind to go through without carrying it across the midway like a sail. Easily reinforced with backing if so desired.
