AMERICAN CARVED CHERRY DISPLAYED EAGLE STERNBOARD. Second quarter 20th century. This realistically carved example “Designed by Bill McCoy at Palm Beach Florida 1941” (inscribed in pencil) and carved by “Lloyd Hansen Thomas Camden, Maine USA” (carved in back of plaque). The displayed eagle carved perched on an American shield. SIZE: 42″ h overall, 84″ wingspan. PROVENANCE: De-accessioned from MBNA. CONDITION: Retains original finish with good color and patina, the plumage realistically carved. In very good condition overall. The cherry laminated on a pine foundation and fitted with original iron supports. Minor old shrinkage cracks noted. 9-96534 (8,000-12,000)
