CHI CHI MU JIAOYI CHAIR. Chinese, Ming style. The arched back continuing to downswept arms with outscrolled hand grips on S-curved supports, each with a pierced element of an archaic dragon centering a woven seat, the seat rail carved with scrolling dragons. Serpentine backsplat with pierced panels carved with a kylin and an archaic dragon. Raised on X-form hinged legs. Frontal legs with platform foot rest adorned with sheet brass decorative elements. Legs terminating in rectangular platform stretchers. Chair adorned overall with sheet brass ornamentation. SIZE: 41-1/2″ h x 27″ w x 26″ d. PROVENANCE: Property of the Royal Family by descent. Signed letter of provenance by Mme. Hengyi Aixinjueluo accompanies this lot. CONDITION: Surfaces of chair have been scrubbed and oiled. Otherwise very good. 9-23972 (50,000-60,000)
