CARTER’S INK BOTTLE/MUCILAGE TIN SIGN. Extremely rare embossed tin sign, circa 1870s with outrageous illustration of a stereotyped black youth attempting to extricate a fashionably attired gent stuck to a crate of Carter’s Mucilage, captioned “The Great Stickist”. The only example cataloger is aware of. SIZE: Image size 13-1/4″ wide x 9-1/4″ high. CONDITION: Strong graphic appeal and rarity offsets some of its condition drawbacks which include: nail holes at corners, light surface pitting, and loss of pigment bottom right corner. 1-7733 (3,500-4,500)
