EXTREMELY RARE CALAMITY MECHANICAL BANK. This is only one of two American banks with an early sports theme: the “Darktown Battery” (baseball) and the “Calamity” (football). This is also one of the most desirable banks for the following reasons: 1) It has great action. When the two defensive players are put into position and the lever is pressed, the defensemen spring into action and tackle the ball carrier. The movement of these players really captures the essence of the football game. 2) Bank is exquisitely cast and aesthetically pleasing to the eye. 3) This is an extremely hard bank to find, and there are not many in collections. 4) It has great cross-over appeal for bank collectors and sports enthusiasts.
