JOHN HALEY BELLAMY (1836-1914) CARVED EAGLE PLAQUE. The carved gilt eagle clutching a partial red, white and blue shield. REFERENCE: “JOHN HALEY BELLAMY CARVER OF EAGLES” by Yvonne Brault Smith, Pg. 69 for a nearly identical example, 26″ x 4″. SIZE: Ht 6 1/2″ L 24 1/2″ D 4 1/2″ CONDITION: Structurally very good, retaining old surfaces and original gilding and paint. Painted banner showing some wear from excessive polishing or cleaning. Proper left wing with old stress crack visible from rear. Stress crack at mid-point of proper left wing tip with slight separation. 9-97001 (5,000-10,000)
