PAPIER MACHE “MILLINER’S MODEL”. Circa 1840s papier mache shoulder head on narrow waist, firm leather body with carved wooden arms and legs with painted shoes. All features are molded and painted with hair pulled into a tall bun on top of the head with tight vertical curls extending outward on each side and covering the ears. Nice detail is shown with the painting of the hair that frames the face. Clothing appears original and consists of a white linen dress fully covered by ecru lace. SIZE: 14″ (35cm). CONDITION: Overall good with minor paint retouch at neckline, nose and forehead; also some typical crazing on shoulder plate. 1-11615 (500-800)
