‘SPISE A MULE BOY ON BENCH MECHANICAL BANK. Manufactured by J & E Stevens. This bank has really great action. Boy sits on bench with a brown mule facing him. Place coin under seat and when you press the lever a powerful spring releases mule which turns around 180 degrees, kicking boy off bench and depositing coin. Because of the action this bank was a good seller in the 1880s and 90s for Stevens. It appealed greatly to the young folks. SIZE: 6″ h. PROVENANCE: From the Collection of Malcolm Deisenroth, Jr. CONDITION: This bank is in near excellent to near mint condition. Condition-wise it doesn’t get much better than this. It still retains all highlights on green base and gold on lever. Extremely sought after and desirable in this condition. 1-10019 (2,000-3,000) Auction: Advertising, Toy & Doll - Spring 2010 Please Note: All prices include the hammer price plus the buyer’s premium, which is paid by the buyer as part of the purchase price. The prices noted here after the auction are considered unofficial and do not become official until after the 46th day. |
