ANTHONY GABRIEL QUERVELLE (Philadelphia, 1789-1856) CLASSICAL MAHOGANY WORK TABLE. Second quarter 19th century. The rectangular hinged top with rounded corners crossbanded in mahogany and rosewood. Opening above the conforming case, fitted with a baise-lined writing surface and compartments for inkwell and pens, further opening to a multi-drawer jewelry compartment lined with original paper. The front with bolection molded frieze over a single deep drawer with stepped demilune molding with rosewood crossbanded outline. The case raised on acanthus carved and ring turned standard terminating in a circular stepped plinth, set on a platform base with incurved sides terminating in acanthus carved scroll claw feet raised on casters. SIZE: 30-1/2″ h x 23″ w x 16-1/2″ d. PROVENANCE: By descent through the family to the current owner. CONDITION: Professionally cleaned and repolished over original surfaces.
