CARVED SOAPSTONE TABLE SCREEN, ARTIST SIGNED. Chinese, Republic Period. The rectangular yellow soapstone plaque finely carved in relief with figures in a mountainous landscape. Signed mid-right. Fitted to a rosewood stand. Accompanied by fitted box for plaque. SIZE: Screen: 10″ h x 5-3/4″ w. Overall: 14″ h x 7-3/4″ w. PROVENANCE: From the private collection of the grand-niece of the last Emperor Puyi of the Qing Dynasty and granddaughter of crown Prince Pujun. Many of the Republican artists were acquaintances of the consignor and many of their works were acquired by her. CONDITION: Very good. 9-23950 (15,000-20,000)
