“COAL AND WOOD” WAGON. Manufactured by Pratt & Letchworth. This green wagon is stamped with “COAL AND WOOD” in white, with red spoke wheels being hauled by a black horse wearing a red harness. The driver is a fireman sporting a red shirt, black pants, and white fire helmet. This is an important fire toy in that the COAL AND WOOD wagon was an integral part of the process of putting out a fire. The firemen used the COAL AND WOOD on the wagon to stoke the fire within the pumper to force the water out of the hose and onto the raging flames that were being fought. SIZE: 12 1/2”.
