LIONEL GG1 #2332 WITH 5 ALUMINUM PASSENGER CARS. The classic 5-striped GG1 with single engine, the locomotive operated out of the Philadelphia area and was one of the most powerful and dynamic locomotives ever produced by General Electric in Western Pennsylvania. Production of these workhorses started in the mid 1930s and continued in operation through the mid 1970s. Massive in size, one was never sure because of the design whether it was coming or going. It operated off electric pantographs, these huge beasts became obsolete and were replaced by more efficient locomotives. This particular toy train is the earlier model produced by Lionel being a single motor and stamped 2332. Included are 5 decaled aluminum passenger cars including Alexander Hamilton, observation car, Betsy Ross Vistadome, William Penn passenger car, Molly Pitcher passenger car, and a Railway Express baggage car. These particular passenger cars have cast metal trucks. SIZE: Engine approx 14″ l. Passenger cars approx 15-1/2″ l. CONDITION: Engine overall is very good. Stripes largely intact on right side, but showing some fading and loss to center section on left side. Passenger cars are fair to good with normal wear. 1-12501 (800-1,200)
