FINE MASSACHUSETTS SACK-BACK WINDSOR ARMCHAIR. Last quarter 18th century. Attributed to Ebenezer Stone, Boston, Massachusetts. In black paint, the bowed crestrail joined to 7 tapering spindles, the midrail continuing to shaped paddle hand grips on raked baluster turned supports centering a shaped oval saddle seat. Raised on baluster turned legs, joined by a conforming H-form stretcher. SIZE: 35-1/2″ h of back, 17-3/4″ h of seat. PROVENANCE: Wayne Pratt, Inc. CONDITION: Structurally completely original. Painted surfaces probably mid-19th century. Very good overall. 9-22811 (2,500-3,500)
