AMERICAN MOLDED COPPER CODFISH WEATHERVANE. Late 19th/early 20th century. This full-bodied example with original gilding of diminutive proportions modeled with sheet copper fins and open mouth. Accompanied by a modern stand. SIZE: Height of vane: 11″ overall; length 26″ overall. CONDITION: Retains original gilded surfaces with nice verdigris patina. A shallow depression at base of proper right side of tail. Two small dents beneath rear of dorsel fin, proper left side. Otherwise very good, no restorations noted. 9-97683 (8,000-12,000)
