TWO EARLY AMERICAN TIN PLATFORM TOYS WITH ANIMALS. The first being a George Brown brown tiger and the second being a Fallows japanned with black highlighting prancing goat. The goat is an unusual form in rearing up position. Both are on wheeled tin platforms. Tiger is referenced on plate 42 in American Antique Toys by Barenholtz. The goat is the one pictured in Barenholtz’s American Antique Toys on page 112. An interesting note, according to the book these toys at that period in time sold for around a wholesale price of 3 cents each and were the most readily toys available of the day. SIZE: Approx. 4-1/2″ l. PROVENANCE: From the Collection of Malcolm Deisenroth, Jr. CONDITION: Overall condition of both animals is very good plus.
