CONNECTICUT FEDERAL INLAID MAHOGANY ONE DRAWER STAND. Circa 1810. The rectangular top inlaid with a central classical urn within an oval patera projecting above the conforming frieze fitted with a single drawer and with contrasting string inlays with incised edges, raised on four square tapered legs. The front legs with elongated inlaid diamond panels, each within string inlay borders. The legs cross banded at ankle and at midpoint. SIZE: 26-1/2″ h x 16-1/2″ d x 18″ w. PROVENANCE: Connecticut family home which descended from Sarah Upson Goodrich (Mrs. Oliver R. Beckwith) who descended from the Rev. Charles Chauncey, President of Harvard College and Elder William Brewster. Sarah was a member of the Connecticut chapter of the National Society of the Colonial Dames of America. CONDITION: Very good overall. Top has been reset. Retains original oval brass handle. Losses to areas of cross banding on legs. 9-21865 (1,500-2,500)
