WILLIAM STANLEY HASELTINE (American, 1835-1900) “ROCKS AT NARRAGANSETT, R.I.”. Outstanding unsigned oil on canvas coastal Rhode Island scene shows several figures seated at top edge of rocks overlooking a blue ocean with small waves having white caps. Housed in a fine period gesso decorated frame with gilt liner and gilt name plaque. We believe this to be the study for the larger oil held by the Corcoran Gallery of Art in Washington, D.C. which is 24″ x 38″ (exactly twice as large as the one presented here). SIZE: 12″ x 19″. CONDITION: Relined, inpainting. Very good. 9-93199 (30,000-40,000)
