RARE AESTHETIC MOVEMENT CARVED MAHOGANY CENTER TABLE ATTRIBUTED TO KIMBEL & CABUS. Circa 1875-80. New York City. The rectangular top with modified ovolo corners, the borders with stylistic incised floral carvings. The conforming apron with pierced fretwork in the orientalist style, centering detailed owl masks, raised on stylistic angular shaped legs surmounted by fierce open mouthed griffins, the molded X-form stretchers joined to, and centering on, an open lattice work central shelf.
