BESSIE POTTER VONNOH (American, 1872 – 1955) “WATER LILIES”. This important and outstanding bronze figural fountain depicts a nude forest nymph with arms extended out, one hand holding a flower bloom with holes for water spray. The nymph stands atop a stepped naturalistic rock plinth which is signed “Bessie Potter Vonnoh SC.”. Also impress marked “Gorham Co. Founders QA0Y”. Wonderful light green verdigris patina. An outstanding example of this artists work. NOTE: A custom cut granite rock base accompanies the bronze which is a fabulous addition for its display. SIZE: Bronze: 29″ h x 16″ at widest. PROVENANCE: From an important Maine collection. CONDITION: Very good. The water lily bloom in left hand is missing the stem.
