INLAID MAHOGANY AND EBONY DESK CADDY. Mid 19th century, India. This unusual example in the form of a cabinet. The top in the form of a removable sliding tray with dovetailed envelope holders set back behind a pair of inkwell holders centering a pen rest and pen tray all above the molded cornice. Pair of cabinet doors applied with carved leaf tips flanked by acanthus carved balusters opening to an interior fitted with drawers, sliding tray, and valanced cubbies. The cabinet inlaid overall with delicate floral scrolling vinery, all in ivory. SIZE: 20″ h x 13-3/4″ w x 7-1/2″ d. CONDITION: Original surfaces, with small damages to area of cornice and to corners of upper letter holder gallery. Otherwise very good. 9-29841 (400-600)
