FINE EARLY HAND PAINTED GERMAN CAROUSEL. An alluring early 20th Century German carousel, a combination of hand painted tin and cloth, this toy features three gondolas with women and three riders on horseback. Mechanism is hidden but contained on the underside of base and when wound spins slowly and steadily increases speed. Horses and gondolas are suspended by wires which are attached to a frame network covered in cloth with a fringe. Toy still retains an original banner-type flag at top of carousel. SIZE: 13″ (to top of flag). CONDITION: Some paint loss to gondolas, figures and horses but overall in untouched, all original good to very good condition. 1-9644 (1,500-2,500)
