ARTICULATED HORSE DRAWN GIRL ON PLATFORM BELL TOY ATTRIBUTED TO MERRIAM. Circa 1875, this exceedingly rare combination of cast iron and American tin is an incredible combination! A fanciful iron base mounted on wheels is drawn forward by a large prancing white tin horse. When the toy does roll forward on the carpet an excentric cam attached to the axle, the girl by means of a wire, rocks back and forth ringing the bell. The bell itself is suspended from the platform by a series of two ornate and curved wire supports. Less than a handful have survived over the years, rare in form and enormous in appeal.
