NEW ENGLAND MAHOGANY TILT TOP CANDLESTAND. Last quarter 18th century. This fine example with a gilt checkerboard top with string inlaid border and edges tilting on a ring and urn turned standard raised on an arched cabriole leg tripod base terminating in delicate ridged and pointed platform pad feet. SIZE: 28-1/4″ h x 16-3/4″ x 16-5/8″. CONDITION: Table retains original old surfaces, the checkerboard with appropriate crackle, some losses to string inlaid edging. Structurally very good with one old professional repair at ankle of one leg. 9-97514 (2,500-3,500)
