“PEOPLES LINE” OMNIBUS BY ALTHOF BERGMANN. Bergmann had an ability to produce a toy that would capture the eye of a child as well as an adult by employing visually attractive colors, striking form and generally by miniaturizing the real item itself into toy form. The artistic lines employed when observing the flowing horses, raised up as if prancing, the decorative trims, such as the front yoke, stenciled rear door and generally the overall appearance. This toy, even with significant restoration, is still much desired and sought after by toy collectors. The driver, perched on the roof with feet resting on a platform overlooking the horses, large windows with open visibility to interior bench seats, stenciled rear opening door and vibrant paint used for decoration. The red, white and blue adds a patriotic flair to this charming toy. SIZE: 14″ l. PROVENANCE: From the Collection of Malcolm Deisenroth, Jr. CONDITION: Inpainting and restoration, but still retaining some original paint. 1-10029 (15,000-30,000) Auction: Advertising, Toy & Doll - Spring 2010 Please Note: All prices include the hammer price plus the buyer’s premium, which is paid by the buyer as part of the purchase price.
