MASSACHUSETTS CHIPPENDALE MAHOGANY OXBOW SLANT LID DESK. Late 18th century. The rectangular dovetailed case fitted with a hinged sloping lid opening to an interior of pigeonholes. The lid resting on lopers, the case fitted with 4 graduated reverse serpentine drawers with cockbeaded edges, retaining original brass hardware, the case raised on 4 short cabriole legs with scalloped returns terminating in ball and talon feet. SIZE: 44″ h x 40-3/4″ w x 22″ d. CONDITION: The case retains older polished surfaces. Backboards a combination of original and later replacements. The legs appear original with some old replaced blocks. 9-96971 (2,500-4,500)
