ANGLO INDIAN CARVED TEAK SIDE CHAIR. Second half, 19th century, India. The stepped arched crest headed by three finials in the form of a seated figure above the back, pierce-carved in deep relief with dense floral vinery. The back panel depicting a Buddhist central figure on pedestal within an arabesque frame joined to the trapezoidal plank seat with floral carved borders raised on frontal legs carved in the form of a mythical creature with elephant and serpents heads. The seat apron pierce-carved with floral vinery above scrolled molded edges centering a rondel carved with a fanciful animal. SIZE: Back: 48-1/2″ h. Seat: 18″ h.
