OLD WOMAN IN SHOE CANDY CONTAINER. A fine early German papier mache candy container depicting the old woman in her shoe. The figure itself has papier mache limbs, dressed in the appropriate cloth fabric and she has a nodding head. The shoe or boot has a fine silk cloth enclosure, which has deteriorated somewhat with age where the candy would have been placed. Not only appealing to collectors of candy containers but perhaps to those who have the old woman in the shoe mechanical bank and/or the tin old woman in the shoe toy by Ives Blakeslee. SIZE: 6-1/2″ t, 5″ l. CONDITION: Overall very good plus. Some paint loss, most noticeable to black shoe. 1-13632 (500-1,000)
