NATIVE AMERICAN DECORATED BUFFALO ROBE. Late 19th century. Possibly Sioux. This full size buffalo hide is extensively decorated with painted human and animal figures, dwellings, lance, crescent moon, implements, and other symbolic signs. The overall design is in the form of a circle. Each corner pierced for hanging and also appears to have been painted or dyed in some fashion. SIZE: 80″ x 75″ approx. (does not include tail) CONDITION: Both sides of the hide are in remarkably good condition, there are small other repairs throughout. Hide remains supple. Very good overall. 9-99615 (1,000-2,000)
