“EMPIRE LINE” OMNIBUS ATTRIBUTED TO HULL & STAFFORD. Hull & Stafford had a knack for separating themselves from other toy manufacturers by creating a slightly elaborate and colorful toy. The windows that are stamped into the tin sides, often referred to as fire plug shaped, the elaborate and bountiful amount of stenciling on the carriage itself, and a removable driver are just a few of the differences that separate Hull & Stafford from other manufacturers. A simple yet elegant toy captures the form of a real omnibus of the period that went from station to station picking up and transferring passengers from one point to another. SIZE: 12-1/2″. PROVENANCE: From the Collection of Malcolm Deisenroth, Jr. CONDITION: A fair amount of paint restoration/preservation to this toy most notable on driver, front end, the blue and red paint of body of carriage, and some inpainting to the yellow carriage body as well. Some enhancement to stenciling on body of carriage as well. 1-10172 (2,500-3,500)
