GENERAL BUTLER STILL BANK. Modeled after the inept Civil War general and his alleged plundering of southern estates to line his own pockets, particularly in the city of New Orleans, this bank portrays a caricature of Butler’s face with a frog body. Typically toys replicated the social economic and political climate of the day. Such is the case with this bank. A rare and difficult bank to find, this bank is in original as-found condition including its trap. SIZE: 6-1/2″ h. CONDITION: Overall fair to good with many years of dust and dirt that accumulated on the paint. A good cleaning would certainly enhance the color and luster of this bank. 1-12274 (600-1,000)
